Default Another 'how much power' question...

    Howdy all!
I have a guess (340-350 hp?) but am curious what y'all think as far as how much this current motor makes, as well as the replacement I am building:

    Block is a 1970 302, bored .040 over, two-piece rear main
Heads are aluminum Edelbrock E-Street with the 1.90 intake valves
    Cam is a Comp 31-218-2 (.456/.456 268/268 with a 110 LSA)
    1.6 roller rockers
    Edelbrock 289/302 intake
TBI injection (FiTech 600hp 'Easy Street' #30005 system with ForceFuel tank/unit)
    Summit brand HEI dizzy
    Unequal shorties
    Off-road x-pipe
    Flowmaster 'Outlaw' dump after 'cat'
    Underdrive pulleys
    130A 1-wire alt
    Electric fans/Aluminum radiator
    T-5
3.55 8.8 rear with Yukon TruTrac diff
    17x8 with 225/45/17 NeoGen tires

    Car runs super strong 2-5K

    New motor being built:
302 .030 over roller cam block
    forged 347 kit
Either AFR 185 or LMR equivalent heads (should be 9.5 to 10 CR with 58cc heads)
    Custom cam (.542/.552 lift, 276/282 with a 110 LSA)
    1.6 Roller rockers
    HEI Flamethrower dizzy
    Same exhaust
    Stealth dual plane intake
    Equal length ceramic shorties
    Same mid x-pipe/after 'cat'
Same TBI or I might go with the 670cfm Holley Street Avenger
    Same rear

Thinking 430-440 hp for this one?

Now an 1981 Granada! .040 over 302, Edel E-street heads... Currently building a 347 because, why not?

Not an expert, but I say your numbers aren't far off. My similar but smaller cammed 347 shows 410fwhp/430fwtq in my engine sim software. I can't say how accurate the software is, but seems reasonable. May get around to getting some real dyno numbers one of these days.

Thanks for that. I figured I was close-ish, but knew others had done similar and would have more than my guesstimate.

Those Edelbrock heads don't flow that great and the cam you posted is on the smaller side. Figure around 280-310 at the flywheel with the first build. On the second build the AFR heads will flow way better if they are the CNC ones, if not and they are the Enforcer as-cast ones, they are still decent heads, but flow drops a bit. With the cam you have selected figure around 400-420 with the CNC heads and around 380-400 for the as-cast ones. I know the numbers sound low but you usually don't get the 440+ HP flywheel builds until you get into the high compression strokers with high .570+ lift cams and a single plane manifold.

I had stock Edelbrock performer heads on my previous 347 and with a E303 (.498 lift) cam and performer duel plane manifold it only put down just under 300 RWHP, which works out to around 335-345 Flywheel HP. At the time I was trying to make a more smog friendly motor. The car moved along nicely but I was a little disappointed when I got the RWHP numbers. I was hoping it was going to be in the 350 RWHP range with the amount of money I had wrapped up in that first motor.

There is a guy on YouTube I watch a lot named Richard Holdener and he does a lot of small block Ford motor Dyno testing and you can learn a lot watching his channel for what to expect from certain combos. I used a cam he recommended on my second build because I was going to be using nitrous.

    Hope this helps,
    Robert

They are the CNC heads, so that's good.
Appreciate the input and I will look up that fella on YouTube!
In honesty, since I do not race and only want to have a lot of fun, the numbers are more informational. I get curious.
    Thanks!

Agree! Even my four-door model tips the scales right at only 3000/3100 lbs.
