1986 Mustang GT w/T-Tops
Looks like fun. But... one thing that has always bugged me is tons of pictures of people / groups of people singing on a stage. I guess it was OK for the person who was taking the pictures but for me, not so much.

Yes, not enough about the cars. But Ford is trying to show the celebration more than the cars.
1986 Mustang GT w/T-Tops
I recognize that 81 Ghia T top on the seventh page!
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

Guess i did not miss much outside, having arriving later.
Were the shirts and food free? Please say no.
Ah well, more to come later this year.
The comradely and overall karma was very warm.
Most were Ford employees, who had an easy very memorable day at work like it should have been.
The presentations inside the Glass House were more than i expected.
The 'no crowd' pics of cars inside unfortunately were obscured by stanchions and ropes.
A common sort of indoor show car 'picture framing' technique more than anything.
Cars displayed outside are more vulnerable to coat zippers, sticky fingers, and strollers, yet rarely are barrier ed.
No badge, no soup for you. Or a Ford balloon.
My old id is locked up at the Rouge in a file cabinet.
The shirts look collectable. The store inside sold them for 12 or 15.00.
Freebee is good to wear working on the car putting on that part bought with the 15.00 saved.
Got my free food later in the day at North Bros. Ford party. No waiting. No limit. No badge.
Three Leo's coney dogs with everything, bag of Better Made potato chips, can of Coca Cola.
Was the lady that bought the first Mustang ever sold there?

Stock never goes out of style.
Everyone knows I'm all about collectibles.
That said, what's this little toy thingie in the package? LINK.
I need some of these bigger kid toys. LINK. and LINK.
As for t-shirts, there are going to be zillions of them sold ---- though I still want some ---- but they'll not be valuable until the 75th. LINK.
Here's one of the sweetest pics in the bunch. LINK. I wonder if it's a survivor. My sister had one -- also in brown -- but a Ghia -- with a chamois landau vinyl top and chamois interior -- fully optioned.
That brown Mustang II had a legal Michigan license plate on it.
The interior looked stock, cared for, unrestored.
The lady with the first Mustang was at the annual MOSEM August show there last year.
Although not at the show, this II is around town. Very well done.
Back at the 50th show, played on the pool table and pinball (Pro Edition model).
Real quality. Both very much fun, had a special feeling.
The pool table has real car parts.
They can be purchased.
How about a Mustang golf cart?
Bumper sticker?
LED Light work mat?
Shirt? Nah, gimme that cooler bag.

Thanks for the link gr79, I like that cooler bag, too.
That's pretty cool that you got to play pool and pinball on those machines.
Yes, a rare opportunity to do so in a place like that.
Could have played that pinball for hours.
I wished more people here could have too.
Wonder if those were borrowed from the top floor VIP lounge?
I had to do this: With no zero ball, used the 5 ball to hide the one on the 10 ball (50):

My first New car and still own 1986 Capri
But were is the mid engine prototype that started the whole 53 years of Mustangs?
And Bowtie and Mopar lovers, that's 53 years with no breaks in production.
You can't say that about Camaros, Chargers, or Challengers.
Have you celebrated a Ford lately ?

Way back used to be able to id every year. No way now. Nothing really new since 50th like a radical styling change.
At one time, 10 years span brought major changes to all cars. And were 10x cheaper.
No more knowing if it is a brand new one is there on the road next to us unless it has a window sticker still on it.
Guess would be easier if already owning a newer one?
Dang a 2.3 size 4 cyl Ford engine now factory rated 310 hp with same mpg as a Lima 2.3. 350 torque too.
https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-6007-23TAHO. 330 hp same as R code 1971 Boss 351.

So Ford makes 700,000 Mustangs in 1965 x 3000.00 each= $2,100,000.000.00
Now 70,000 cars produced in 1 year x 30,000 each= $2,100,000,000.00
Just for fun rough figures same end totals. Production compared to 1965 -10x units, cost +10x.
https://www.motor1.com/news/626821/2...-horse-500-hp/
The Mustang was never 10x cheaper - the dollar was worth ~10x more. Big difference.
also...
2014's and 2013's look about the same. Not sure what you mean about a radical change for the 50th.
I know you're embellishing with not being able to tell the differences in the new stuff....but there's definitely (albeit some small) changes just like there's almost always been. The big changes are always generational. Between an 85 and 86 is a 3rd brake light for example, I wouldn't call that a discernible difference.
S550's had a nice facelift in 2018 and there's a brand new generation out as of this year - Very easy to spot. Especially if we're comparing a 2014 to a 2024.
1978-->1988....Sure...I'll give you that one LOL

Oops true dollar value is not valid. Was thinking more of ratios. Forgot to check inflation calculator.
Mustang 65-66, 67-68, 69-70, 71-73, 74-78, 79-93, 94-98(?), 99-2004, 2005-?? then am lost.
Gosh i miss my 85 LTD LX. Is one would consider owning again.
Something with a trunk, auto trans. After driving near a million miles, less than 100k has been with an automatic.
Picks- 2000's Crown Vic Sport, stock Mustang 83 or so carbed 5.0, 4cyl 4d Fairmont, Pacer X 401 with vent windows.
70's Duster, Pinto wagon 2.3. Certain model not SVE Ford Focus maybe. Always wanted never had a blue interior.
No garage else i's have em all..

Wouldn't ya know it.
Drove down a newer subdiv street today.
MUSTANG DR.
And a new grayish Mustang GT passed slow and quietly the other way!
All black front no badge deep sculpturing like Dark Horse Nascar.
I do recall the 2013 Laguna Seca Boss 302. Had to look up the year. So many Roush and Shelby versions.
Electric blue detailed engines are sharp almost in a way retro dress as on special hp engines of the GT/Boss/CJ eras.
The engine bays now have a sort of jet engine look with all the plumbing, hoses, electrical. Well routed mess.
Interesting to see chassis bracing ideas the factory uses. Like rear seat X bracing.
