    Default Looking to buy a block need input

    Im in need of a good cheap block there is one near me but i see dark rings around the cylinders should i just forget about this block. Can it be bored and be ok? Hes asking $200 he also said its from 1999 wich leads me to believe its from explorer will this work in my 83 no problems.

    At first glance, it looks ok. The dark rings are where the ring travel ends. I want to say I see crosshatching in the cylinders but it's not clear. I'm no expert. Check all the bearings as well just to see all condition.

    Also, if you can't catch a fingernail on any of the discolored spots, than there's likely nothing to worry about.
