    Default Redline Tuning hood struts

Anybody use these struts on their four eye? Opinions? Recently bought a set but haven’t installed yet. Just kind of mocked up. Running into an issue already with a hole that looks factory underneath hood where bracket goes. It’s on drivers side but not on passenger side. Just kind of wondering if anyone else ran into this issue.

I have a set on my Pace Car and another set that will be installed on the Wide Body too. Overall been pretty happy with them. No issues and definitely prefer them to the hood prop rod. Not sure about the hole you are referring to. It's been several years since I installed them on the Pace Car and have done the install on the Wide Body just yet. I don't remember there being an issues with the previous install, but my memory isn't what it used to be.

According to my database, installed two Redline sets 9/2011 Mustang and Ranger.
Other than re-riveting Ranger one ps strut bracket 2022, working fine.
Cold weather effects them similar to rear hatch struts.

Do email Redline Tuning with any tech questions. Email us at: sales@redlinetuning.com
The engineer can explain exactly what to do since they design them.
I had some questions (forgot exactly what). Received prompt response.
Think it was about slightly different locations for the brackets.
Leeway parameters for installation was explained clearly.
Both hoods open same height or a bit more vs prop rods.
Removed the Mustang prop rod for a cleaner look.

Sure worth the money not having to hold the hoods up to hook them.
No worry about wind or reaching in poking around and shoulder lifting the hood, unhooking the prop rod.
The hood can awkwardly pin you like Jaws. Yup it got me once. Once is enough.
Unknown if the struts will stop a loose hood from flying up when driving fast although seem pretty strongly mounted.

Here is a pic of the hole. You can see where my marker mark is. Passenger side does not have this hole.

Rainy and dark outside so no 'live' check today.
Did find a couple pics taken in 2011 of finished install and where the hood brackets are.
Helped to refresh memory quite a bit.

Car does not have that lowest 3rd ds oval punchout.

The center rivet location on mine is even with the bottom of the lower large oval punchout.
I believe the bracket can be moved up enough so the bottom rivet clears that 3rd punchout.
The flat spot between the extra lower oval punchout and the middle oval punchout.
Match the ds measurements to locate the pass side strut brackets.

Both struts are almost vertical when hood is fully opened.
Forgot if they told me to also adjust the fender brackets more toward the rear of the engine bay.
Was concerned if moving the bracket locs the strut would not have enough travel to close all the way but they do.
That is what was explained to me what changing the bracket locs would do. The leeway.

Did the Mustang in 3 hours. Ranger in 2 because no extra fudging time was needed.
Pneumatic riveter set the rivets tight in a couple seconds.
