Production Numbers & Decoding
It is still very difficult to find accurate production numbers on most of the 79-86 Ford Mustangs and Mercury Capris. Some groups or individuals have been able to get accurate numbers about their particular special interest car. Unfortunately, getting numbers on all of the Mustangs and Capris during those years seems like it may never happen.
We'll be bringing various available numbers to this site in the future. For now, we have the following numbers available for viewing in the Production Numbers & Decoding Forum:
- 1979-1986 Mustang Production Numbers (including SVO breakdowns) - Accuracy not guaranteed as numbers vary from source to source.
- 1979-1984 Mercury Capri Production Numbers - These numbers are highly disputed, sourced from Illustrated Mercury Buyer's Guide.
- 1985 & 1986 Mercury Capri Production Numbers - ascMcLaren expert Sandy Block received these numbers directly from Mercury and should be treated as thorough and accurate.
- 1984-1986 ascMcLaren Capri Production Numbers - Numbers again from Sandy Block and should be treated as thorough and accurate.
