  • Congratulations the winner of the Ride of the Month for October goes to Rich & Missy Straight (FEP Username: Fearnot) and their 1984 Mustang GT Turbo Convertible. This is one of many Foxes for Rich and Missy, but definitely one of their favorites. When asked why they bought the GT in August of last year, the simple answer is they had always wanted a Turbo GT!

The GT was purchased pretty much as you see it right now. Rich is honestly a bit embarrassed, yet humbled, that it won Ride of the Month as it is his only Fox that he didn’t build himself. Rich loves building his own cars but this GT was just too nice to pass up. The intention with the convertible is to return the car to original condition as the previous owner was in the middle of modifying the car heavily. Rich and Missy like original cars and the GT was a one owner 100% original car before the gentleman Rich purchased the car from got it. There are 49,000 miles currently on the car, but when it was delivered to the house Missy fell in love with it, so we are sure that mileage will increase as the plan is to drive it and enjoy it as much as possible.

When purchased, Rich did receive all the original parts including the classic TRX wheels, so although the current 1993 Cobra replica wheels do look great, expect the TRX’s to make an appearance sometime in the future. Rich also received the original sales paperwork and the window stickers, but as of yet has been unable to find a build sheet in the car.

The GT currently wears it’s original paint, interior, and convertible top. The previous owner added the front mount intercooler to the 2.3 Turbo, as well as injectors, exhaust, and an ECM. As stated before the convertible currently rides on a set of 17” Cobra replica wheels. The suspension has seen some replacement parts or upgrades with new springs, shocks, and struts to help improve the ride and handling of this 32 year old classic.

Rich would like to thank everyone on FEP for the opportunity to be the Ride of the Month. It’s a great honor and he is surprised that his one bought not build ride would be the one to get him here. We wish Rich and Missy many miles of fun, driving their 1984 Mustang Convertible GT in beautiful North Carolina or anywhere else they choose to roam!

Nice car, congrats. I didn't realize it is a low mileage survivor. It looks good as is, but will be cool back stock.
