  • There looks to be a number of Fox Mustangs at Barrett-Jackson this year, from 79 all the way to 93, but only two are of the four-eyed variety.

First up is a 99 mile 1984 G.T. 350 scheduled to go across the stage on Wednesday. A 1979 Pace Car is going to be sold on Sunday. Both are no reserve and are not during prime bidding times, though the Pace Car gets a little better slot.

The description for this 99 actual mile 84 Mustang G.T. 350/20th Anniversary car is vague and filled with typos. The condition of the engine compartment is a little disappointing for such low mileage, though certain things are expected to deteriorate with age. One might wonder, though if this is due to less than optimal storage conditions at some point, which would not be unreasonable over the course of 30+ years.

The 79 Indy Pace Car Mustang claims full restoration instead of low mileage. Again, an exceptionally underwhelming description was slapped on the site, although it is at least refreshing that they aren't trying to tout it as a low-production car or rare as many do.

Additional pictures and brief description are found here.

We're hoping to get someone to the auction to check out one or both cars in person. Getting there on the right day to see certain cars can be a challenge as the show tents at Barrett-Jackson fill up (and empty out) over the course of the week. If we are lucky enough to get someone on the ground at the auction, we'll follow up with more detailed pictures and first-person insight and certainly we will be watching for auction results.

Although Barrett-Jackson may not be the most exacting indicator of the overall market given the excessive hype the event receives, it is certainly something that can show us where the market it going. Watching for the other Foxes this week may also be a value barometer of sorts.

Not just that, think of all the people who tried to be sly and hoard up the low mileage Foxes just a few years ago, then bailed on them because prices were flat! I bet they are kicking themselves now too.

You are correct, I believe it a 10% buyers fee, so you would be at $71500. The seller pays a 8% sellers fee and an additional $600 just to push the car across the stage. I talked to the guy who had the 93 gt and the 93 cobra for quite awhile, and this is what he told me.

I normally go there I did not want to take off from work but it turns out work was cancelled all week because of snow. So my father is there without me.

You could be a hero if he has cell video of that GT350 auction!

Did the PC cross the block yet? They are currently at lot 1560... Wasn't sure if they went in order or not.

Dang... I missed it. Wanted to see it cross the block. Price sounds a little high from what some folks at the auction said.

High for a so so restoration, is encouraging.

Sounds like it covered the restoration material costs!

Everything at the auction this week seemed high. Had a good look at the Pace Car. I would say it was and 8 out of 10 for an original survivor car. Pretty clean with some minor wear and tear. Says it was a detailed restoration but it is either an old resto or just a freshening. I could tell it had some paintwork. Don't think it had a complete repaint, just panel touch ups. The GT350 vert was as you would expect for an original car that has never been driven. I looked to me like it was itching to stretch its legs.

We need accurate info on this Pace Car....

$11,500 is strong money for a 8/10 driver survivor.

I think that's a pretty fair description of the car. Everything was high that I saw go through. Stuff you figure would sell for 3000-4000 would pull 8000. Then there is still a 10% buyers fee on top. The PC represented itself well but you could tell it wasn't a trailer queen. You could feel masking marks where some touch ups were done and the seats were in nice shape but had the look that they have been used. Tires were crisp and the body was clean. I will post a few pics

Thanks for posting some decent pics.

Hard to really see detail, but my take is you guys are tough critics!

Looks like "an older restoration that still presents well."

I did get a good look at it, and it defiantly was not worth that kind of money.... At least to me. The belt molding was terrible, there were rock chips in the front that were not fixed and just painted over, about the only thing it had going for it was the interior was decent. Far to many of these out there in much better shape that are worth that kind of money and are not getting it.

And if you take a nicer one to B-J it will bring more money?? I'm not getting how our opinions on value (which I do respect) translate to the going auction value?
