  • There looks to be a number of Fox Mustangs at Barrett-Jackson this year, from 79 all the way to 93, but only two are of the four-eyed variety.

First up is a 99 mile 1984 G.T. 350 scheduled to go across the stage on Wednesday. A 1979 Pace Car is going to be sold on Sunday. Both are no reserve and are not during prime bidding times, though the Pace Car gets a little better slot.

The description for this 99 actual mile 84 Mustang G.T. 350/20th Anniversary car is vague and filled with typos. The condition of the engine compartment is a little disappointing for such low mileage, though certain things are expected to deteriorate with age. One might wonder, though if this is due to less than optimal storage conditions at some point, which would not be unreasonable over the course of 30+ years.

The 79 Indy Pace Car Mustang claims full restoration instead of low mileage. Again, an exceptionally underwhelming description was slapped on the site, although it is at least refreshing that they aren't trying to tout it as a low-production car or rare as many do.

Additional pictures and brief description are found here.

We're hoping to get someone to the auction to check out one or both cars in person. Getting there on the right day to see certain cars can be a challenge as the show tents at Barrett-Jackson fill up (and empty out) over the course of the week. If we are lucky enough to get someone on the ground at the auction, we'll follow up with more detailed pictures and first-person insight and certainly we will be watching for auction results.

Although Barrett-Jackson may not be the most exacting indicator of the overall market given the excessive hype the event receives, it is certainly something that can show us where the market it going. Watching for the other Foxes this week may also be a value barometer of sorts.

The restoration on the turbo Pace Car is pretty $ick!

First one I've seen restored to that degree.

Looks good from here, I'll say. I'd like to see some before shots to know how far along the car came. Not sure if I will make it out there, but might try to get in this weekend while it is cheap.

It will be interesting to see how the snobby BJ auction reacts to the Pace. It's off their beaten path, but over restored to a jewelry like state, just the way they like them.

Eh, I think the Speed/Fox/whoever else coverage really did a strange number on public perception of what's at the auction. There are some unreasonably tacky and hilarious things that never see the light of day (or the light of television) each year that I've been, at least. And there are plenty of cars that present nicely on TV but are quite disappointing when you see them in the sheet metal. Both cars are NOT getting prime slots, though the Sunday position favors the Pace Car far more heavily than does the Wednesday slot of the GT 350. And, let's face it, everyone knows about PCs, they look freakin' period-correct-cool (hey, they scarred me for life as a little girl, hooking me hard on Foxes) and they have a really good perceived value when they're nice. I'm sure the PC will bring more money. Though, let's see if I'm proven wrong.

      I only found 2 typos.....

Hoping these cars do well at the auction. It will be interesting to see what they do end up going for.

      Tahnks!

Gathering data, pics, following the auction for the Pace Car means a lot. I've determined it will take 10 grand to restore my 2.3 turbo Pace, this can tell me if I should.

I stopped by yesterday. The "restoration" on the PC looks good from far but is far from good. Whatever this car sells for shouldn't be taken as a value marker at all. The front bumper cover fits poorly, maybe it had been hit, or the bumper cover R&R'd incorrectly, side moldings on the doors were ripped off, metal removed, shrunk, warped, slapped back on. The hood was closed, so no way of seeing inside there. Door fit on the driver's side was bad. Lots and lots of red flags stating that whoever put this car together had no regard for detail. The car looks like one of the typical "I'm gonna restore this and send it to a big auction!" inspired restos.

The 99 mile Anny looked pretty nice, but it was shaded under the tent, while the PC was in bright sunlight when I was there. The Anny car, from what I could tell, deserves to pull good money.

      Thanks for the report!

When are these scheduled to cross the block?

Wednesday for the Anny, which is a shame. Deserves a more prime spot, IMO. Sunday for the PC. If I'm remembering right. Should be on the docket on the main site there, I believe.

The white 92 gt was beautiful. It sold for $15000
The teal 93 cobra sold for $25000 also awesome.
The Pace Car looks like a $3500- $4500 car. My opinion
