  • Recent years have shown an increase in the number of vintage Early Fox race cars participating in vintage racing. This stands to reason as enough years have passed that our beloved Foxes are becoming vintage special-interest cars. Various race cars, or at least some of their parts, have started to surface here and there after having seemingly disappeared over the years. Often overlooked is the fact that as soon as Early Foxes were being produced, they were being raced in a wide variety of series all over the world. Fast Four Eyes were a common sight at nearly any track event.

We don't have any additional information on this 1979 IMSA Ford Mustang, but its flares certainly resemble that of the 1980 IMSA Mustang. All we know is what this video and other similar videos offer in the caption: it's the 1979 Polito Ford IMSA Mustang. We'll try to hunt this car down and find out details in the future. This is a great looking, great sounding car. It is getting some proper workout time on the track and we're always happy to see such a thing.

Good old Google search on "Polito IMSA Ford Mustang". If you do that search, you will find two youtube videos of that car.

The original Ford sponsored Mustang Enduro racers are alive and on the track again. They are owned by 3-Dog Garage in Boyertown, PA and have just finished an extensive restoration. Here's a few pics. Attachment 64165Attachment 64166Attachment 64167Attachment 64168

Thanks for the offer, but I've got the later one on my car. It works fine, but if I came across a good condition, functional panel for a reasonable price,

Ok, I was not aware of that variation. I thought there were only 3 types for 83-86 excluding the rear defrost addition

Is it the 83 to mid-85 panel? Or the mid-85 to 86 panel?

In other words (no pun intended), does it have "Heat" and "Hi-Lo",

Just picked up a decent hvac panel at a local pick n pull. Works smoothly. Top 2 screw hole mounting tabs are broken off but probably could get by with

    Carb size?

I didn't notice much, if any difference. I did have to make accel pump adjustments to both carbs though. Oddly enough, the 670 liked a larger cam and

    Carb size?

I would have thought the 750 range too big, though it can be jetted down easily enough. You still get real good response at/off idle and such?

    Another 'how much power' question...

Thanks for that. I figured I was close-ish, but knew others had done similar and would have more than my guesstimate.

    Carb size?

I'd think any of those carbs would be fine. Ran a 670 on mine for quite awhile, ran well. Currently running a 750, personally think it runs better than

Not an expert, but I say your numbers aren't far off. My similar but smaller cammed 347 shows 410fwhp/430fwtq in my engine sim software. I can't say
